What boggles my mind is the short-sightedness of the lawyers in question, to say nothing of the parties, all of whom cannot be ignorant of the very real fact that the big dollars will dry up for nearly every one of them in a very few short years. Meaning, why not build in triggers that adjust to this reality? Why not have a pre-nup that makes it clear that everyone involved understands this high dough is a temporary situation?

I get it that Rodman arguably blew the money thereby getting broke faster than he would otherwise have done, but is his money, right. Not defending the guy, but his lawyers suck for not making sure these things were not handled well. And to Rodman's irrespnsibility in regard to the same, I don't feel sorry for him either.

SCOTT MEISTERHEIM, 44 — CAPTAIN
Scott borrowed $17,000 to come to Nome and dredge for gold — but currently owes over $100,000 in back child support payments. A rough-edged Michigan man, Scott claims to have no anger management problems, just "idiot problems." A greenhorn captain, he's got a lot of obstacles to overcome: he's overseeing two inexperienced divers, a mechanically suspect dredge and an owner who demands results. His first season as a boat captain is not only explosive, it will test every skill he has.

Another one for the list...of former high-income athletes who mismanaged their financial lives into a smoldering heap of slag and stupidity.

Warren Sapp files for bankruptcy in Florida
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – Former NFL star Warren Sapp owes more than $6.7 million to creditors and back child support and alimony, according to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in South Florida.

The good news in this article is that he owns a collection of more than 240 pairs of Jordans worth an estimated $6,500 and a lion skin worth almost $1,200, as listed among his assets. Isn't that special? Oh, yeah, he lost his 2002 superbowl ring and college national championship ring from U of Miami. Makes me wanna puke.

I hear his cousin Bob Sapp isn't doing so well either.
