Case Review Hearing

Unread postby toomankids » Fri Apr 07, 2017 7:22 am

My lawyer just notified me that I have a new case review coming up this month. I don't know what it is for. Yes I owe arrears, but the ordered amount is more than I should have to pay. I pay what I can when I can. They just took my tax return so I am not paying anything for the next few months because my tax return covers 3 months worth of child support.

Should I go to the hearing or just let my lawyer deal with it?

If you don't pay your arrears will increase.

You should go to the hearing.

If they took your tax returns it was to cover your arrears.

If you don't continue to pay your arrears will just build up again.

When you say the ordered amount is more than you should have to pay, what do you mean by that?
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

The order is out of California where they are ridiculous about child support. If they recalculated it according to my state it would be less so I pay that amount.

You will pay the California amount, eventually.

Plus interest.

But it's not right. My lawyer sent my ex a letter stating what my state says I should pay and that is what I am paying. She went behind my back to child support and is now demanding I pay the California amount.

Out of curiosity, where was the divorce finalized?
If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning.

The mother and kids still live in Cali?

If they do then CS will be calculated by Cali's formula or any other state they live in.

She moved to Indiana. I asked Indiana to lower the support but they would not. They said my income had not changed.
