Gifts for & from Ex

Gentlemen,
What are you guys giving your loving ex's this Christmas?

On the flip side, what kinda gifts have you gotten from your loving ex in the past and do you think she will surprise you this time?

I got this set of books for my ex, knowing how much she loves to read and enjoys fine literary work.

I'm giving her child support. I have received nothing in return. I will make sure to bring this issue up to her. I have a feeling I'm missing out on a massive opportunity akin to a "pushing gift". Perhaps this is pay back for my ignorance of that specific custom.

The question is how much conflict you can control, negate, or avoid.

Nothing. My kids were teens during the divorce and adults now. I offered money to help when you were younger and they declined, thought we did make some craft things.

I funded my kids shopping at their grammar school's Secret Santa Shop and told them to get their Mom a gift (< $5).

The year that we separated i helped kids pick gifts for mom and funded the purchases (50 bucks or so). I got zip in return. Next year the kids didn't ask and I didn't offer.

I plan on taking the high road. Took all kids to help birthday shop for mom too, along with getting her a thoughtful gift for $30. Between xmas and bday, all in $100. Its not for me, its to show that we should put time, thought and energy into thoughtful gifts for parents (and others). Maybe its reciprocated, maybe it isn't, but that is a her decision.

Yeah, I take my kids out to shop for her too. It is hard on top the thousands I pay her but I do it for the kids, some normalcy.
