"Considered" is the key,

Most of the time the bill gets killed by the lobby for the divorce machine.
You should read some of the rational they throw out there.

That'd be Rick Scott(R) vetoing equal parenting time.

Typo's negate their rationale.

What's the opinion of the National Parents Organization in this community? Instead of reading about this kind of positive news, I want to effect change within the divorce culture. I've been apolitical my entire life, but I want to see 50% parenting time be the defacto standard by the time both of my boys are ready to start a family. So I'm looking for an organization where I can contribute my time and money to reach that goal.
The only way out is through.

Some things you can do to help your sons out can be done now. The _best_ way to get 50/50 post marriage is to be at least 50/50 after.
1. Discourage them from going into the military. Deployments and commitment to the military can mean parenting sacrifices.
2. Encourage them to consider teaching as a career. It would fit in with school schedule and leave summers free
3. When starting out in a career, dont just take "highest pay" but look at parental leave and work/life balance.

One of the strongest arguments against this is that they say it will only effect 10% of divorces (The % that end up for a judge to decide).
We know thats BS -Because there are a lot of guys who see what the standard are in their state and end up coming up with agreements that are less then 50/50 because based on our state- we arent going to get 50/50.

So how to help? If your divorce is not final and you dont have 50/50 - FIGHT. FIGHT for 50/50...Help the cause. The more cases that go to a judge - the more cases a judge as to decide, and of course the more fathers get 50/50 - the more likely state are to pass these types of laws.

fyi on the subject - Illinois passed legislation making 50/50 the presumed standard beginning in 2017. A small but positive step.
