Nope. Just looking in vain for rational answers. As Phoenix said, having state actors get involved once was more than enough for me.

We already have that.

LOL, So true. I'm with you.

My Azz is soar from all the pounding I got from the Ex's ridiculous money grab campaign. I'm taking my pink canoe where it's appreciated without all the drama and financial repercussions.

I also think it is weird that in our culture we say a marriage 'fails' but when a boyfriend/girlfriend break up it is nothing. Like, the only reason it sucks to break up when you're married is that there are those financial/legal side affects. But we create those in the first place... we make it be a do or die situation. Why not just let it be like any relationship, right?

It really just makes no sense why we set ourselves up for failure in such a way.

In what way are the answers received not rational?

The reality is I am 2 years away from marrying again. I just like to ponder things far in advance.

To me dating is like going out for a day of sailing. While marrying is going on a transatlantic voyage. Both entirely different experiences. I am great to go sailing with for a day. And it's quite satisfying.

But going on a transatlantic voyage is something totally different. It's more testing, more revealing, more real in a way.

My first marriage had elements of the nightmare in it. And began as more of a green card thing. I don't know if I want to leave my experience of marriage at that.

Fair point. I haven't seen any responses that would stack up favorably against a lifelong commitment to a woman without state sanction, for me. For some, love is enough. For me, not much can convince me of the value of state intervention.
