Sorry but what this really means you were sleeping at the wheel when your final decree got drafted. And that you had a pretty bad lawyer, - he should have ensured all those things got addressed, they are pretty standard!

Don't know bout your state but in Illinois before you appear in front of a judge you go through mandatory mediation.

As for another member's suggestion that you don't renew your son's passport I don't think that is a viable one - sooner or later he will need one.
