Christmas is coming but this gander is not getting fat!

Unread postby Gary Seven » Thu Nov 10, 2016 11:15 am

What are men here doing regarding Christmas presents for children splitting their time between two households during Christmas and New Years Holidays? This year junior stays with me from the day after Christmas until the night before school starts in the New Year. What to do? I know she, her new boyfriend, (with his two kids) and her family will be showering him with presents.

Make memories instead.

Establish new rituals - something special that will work when the kids are adults, too. When they have their own families, or in-laws, Boxing Day could be forever your day with your kids, and your grandkids.

Aim high in steering, because the mother won't.

What State do you reside in?
Certainly, that isn't your real name, right?

I don't buy my kids off with presents. They love me fine.

Ex gets kids lots of presents. Guilty conscience probably☺️

There are lots of things you can do that your kids will remember. If you get together with family, have a Yankee gift swap. The presents can be $5 or $10. You have have a food theme (kids love getting huge bags of candy!) or choose a letter of the alphabet and all gifts have to start with that letter.

Take a ride around after dinner one night to see Xmas lights and stop for ice cream. If you're kids have never been skating, find an indoor rink that rents skates. Make Christmas ornaments to give to grandparents next year. You can buy a lot of the crafts for 50% off now!

Work on caring a lot less about this (so little that it doesn't enter your mind), and both you and your child will benefit.

How about starting a new thread so we can discuss your situation as it goes through the next year. You fit here nicely and obviously have only your kids best interests in mind.

Before you finish this thread, how'd it go the day after Christmas?

As I anticipated she was there with the new boyfriend and his kids. I picked up my son and left.
