Are you proposing every alternate year to claim the children? If so, what tax filing status will you be using for calculating the support?

I get to claim kiddo every year, and I will claim HOH on return, but I specify single on w-2 so I get a refund.
For 2017, I will probably get about $6-7000 fed and state back next year.

So it looks like the final order is being drafted and will be signed and put in front of judge. Everything is effective may 1st for payments, and in a few months I will have a signed order.

Just signed and sent over the stipulation agreement to be placed before the judge and signed off on.
What happens next and what should I expect?

I think the next thing is at some point, probably in a few weeks, you'll get a copy of the order, signed by the judge, and it will be official.

We did a partial judgment a couple of months ago. For some reason I never got the copy the clerk supposedly mailed to me, but I was able to watch the Register of Actions online in my county (Orange), saw when it was entered and ordered a copy.

Once you get a copy of the order signed by the judge you can use that to do transfers of retirement accounts and other assets.

Yep. Check with the plan administrator on your 401(k) and any other transfers with potential tax implications, etc (for example, transfer of stock or other investments should not trigger a cap gain or loss). They probably have specific forms you'll need to submit with a copy of your signed order.

If you have joint accounts, from what I've seen they typically won't let you remove an owner--they'll want you each to establish a new account, will divide the assets according to the order and then close the old joint account.

We will be using a company to do the QDRO, and the amount has already been specified in the stipulation agreement.
Thank you sir.
