Getting rid of images

Unread postby claptrap » Thu Nov 03, 2016 4:07 pm

Over the years my STBX has sent me various explicit images, obviously I should get rid of them but how can I prove that they are gone if asked?

Not sure why it is relevant and doubt anybody will ask, but if asked, say 'I don't have any of those'.

go to sysinternals (now owned by Microsoft) and they have a program called sdelete,
you can use it to not only delete files but write over the same blocks of memory n times.

or you could just say, "what images?"

Yeah I was thinking about using Boot and Nuke, anything important is in the cloud anyway.

Ex wanted to subpoena the home computer.

"What computer?"

"It crashed, it's at the dump"

Should? Just delete them and defrag your disk. You don't need to prove anything. She asked. You deleted. Done.
Your job is not to invent or follow some completely undefined expectation of forensic data destruction requirement (e.g. FIPS). "good enough" is ... good enough.

This is just NOISE. She's fishing and trying to bait you. Unless it is in a motion from the court, IGNORE THE NOISE.

Legally, if she sent them to you, the responsibility to obtain a signed affidavit of non-disclosure or distribution was on her BEFORE she sent them to you. If you even spend one second entertaining this nonsense, the course of action would be for your lawyer (since it was in response to her filing a motion, right? - no motion = no exist) to demand she provide said contract and then IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE. Quit responding to her bait.

"I've long since deleted any images you've sent me. Have a nice day."
