Please recommend a video camera

Unread postby Involved_Father_Of_2 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 4:41 pm

Did anyone here have experience using a body camera while around STBX?
Can you recommend make and model you used?

I'm looking for something which has a battery recording time of at least 5 hours preferably 7. Lower quality video is OK. Thanks

How do you conceal a body camera?

The question is how much conflict you can control, negate, or avoid.

Given the battery life you are requesting you'll be looking at a few hundred bucks for a quality wide angle unit.

I'm in situation where STBX reported DV incident to local police but didn't file a formal complaint (yet) which would've automatically triggered TRO. To discourage her from further lies and accusations I want to video record when around STBX (I already have mp3 running).
It doesn't have to be fully concealed. Any suggestions would be appreciated

But video is not better than audio recording for our purposes.

How will you play back the video when you are standing at the curb, next to the patrol car?

Bart,

We speak Turkish at home 100% so I will have a problem to play back audio to LEO at the curb anyways. This is for the court if/when it comes to it. Video would be in addition to audio as additional evidence against false accusations.

Look, I get it. You want to wear belt and suspenders.

A reasonable person knows there is a limit to precautions. If the threat at home is so great that the expectation of privacy must be disregarded for everyone, then a reasonable person would consider the limit met and video an extreme - are there no other alternatives?

There is an expectation of privacy in the home. That means, as a reasonable person, if I want to walk around my home in my underwear, I should not have to deal with the household being video recorded. Therefore, my whitey-tighty wearing opinion is that video will not be a better defense from a false accusation, and has some inherent risks of creepy-ness by it's invasion of privacy.

Are there turkish-speaking police in your area?
Does your attorney speak turkish?

As advised by this forum I should be doing everything to protect myself from false DV charges and therefore I'm considering ALL options. I don't think the threat at home is so great but I could be wrong and it can change very quickly.

Well, maybe it is extreme and that's why I posted to see what the forum thinks - I appreciate your view and others are welcome to chime in too.

We live in the English speaking area I highly doubt there is local LEO who speaks my language. My attorney is American.

You live in an English speaking country, with English speaking police, and English speaking judges.

You might want to move the conversation to English in your home.
